NAFA announces action plan for the development of art in all seven provinces

Kathmandu, December 20

Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) organised a press meet on Tuesday to inform about its upcoming programmes along with the decisions of the 15th academic council meeting held on December 15 and 16.

In the press meet, Devendra Kumar Kafley, the Member Secretary of the Academy, informed the accomplishments over the past 10 months and highlighted the upcoming initiatives.

He said, “Provincial Coordination Committees have been created in all seven provinces to enhance the efficiency and agility of provincial work.”

Moreover, NAFA is working to develop Gadhawa Rural Municipality of Dang district in Lumbini Province as a ceramics hub and Sunapati Rural Municipality of Ramechhap in Bagmati Province as a Thangka Art Hub. It aims to work in diverse programmes strategically in all seven provinces for the promotion and preservation of local arts along with NAFA being the bridge between the artists and the market for economic growth.

Moreover, it plans to conduct studies, research and make documentaries of traditional historical sites and art heritages, publish biographies of artists, and organise workshops and programs across various art forms to contribute to tourism.

Naradamani Hartamchhali, the Chancellor of the Academy, pointed out that the academy is committed to making long-term, impactful decisions regarding institutional structure, and policy programmes at the economic and administrative levels.
