Kathmandu/Surkhet, October 12

The number of people dying of injuries following a bus accident in the Mugu district of Karnali, western Nepal, has reached 32.

Police Inspector Jeevan Lamichhane says 24 died on the spot whereas four breathed their last while being taken to the Talcha airport for treatment.

Likewise, four others died during treatment in Nepalgunj.

The victims are yet to be identified.

The bus bound to the district headquarters had fallen around 200 metres down the road at Pina Jhyarikhola, Chhanyanath Rara municipality-7 of the direct.

Fourteen injured have been airlifted to Nepalgunj for treatment.

23 killed, dozens injured as bus falls of road in Mugu of western Nepal

At least 23 people have died when a passenger bus fell off the road in the Mugu district of Karnali, western Nepal.

Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat confirmed the casualties.

Around 20 others are said to be injured as the bus (Bhe 1 Kha 3167) heading to Gamgadhi, the Mugu district headquarters, from Birendranagar of Surkhet crashed.

Although road accidents are reported almost every day in Nepal, this happens to be the biggest loss in the past few months.

The victims are yet to be identified.
