Kathmandu, August 21

Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security Sita Badi carried out an impromptu inspection of the Bhrikutimandap area today, accompanied by a team from the Social Welfare Council.

During the visit, Minister Badi inspected the various activities and structures operating on the premises, including the meat market, vegetable market, garden hall, various stalls and exhibitions, business areas, open and green spaces, parking, sanitation, public toilets, and pedestrian pathways, gathering firsthand information on each.

She also sought details from the relevant officials and management about how the different structures and areas are being used, the state of their management, the nature of the businesses and services operating there, and the income generated along with the benefits the state and citizens are receiving from it.

Calling Bhrikutimandap an important public property at the heart of Kathmandu, Minister Badi directed the concerned authorities to move forward with a study to develop it into a well-managed, safe, clean, green, inclusive, and citizen-friendly public centre, making the fullest use of the available space and structures rather than keeping it limited to its current form.
