Makawanpur police arrest five for ward office arson

Police in Makawanpur district on Monday arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in an arson at the ward office of Thaha municipality-5 on the northern part of the district. The office in local Aarandanda was set on fire last night.

Following the incident, the Palung Area Police Office arrested five persons. But, their names are not revealed yet.

As an electricity metre banged during the fire, the locals had learned around the incident last night and informed the police. On Monday morning, the police had found bottles of petrol and kerosene at the incident site.

Most documents, stationery and furniture at the office were destroyed in the attack, according to police inspector Lok Bahadur Gurung.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Prem Raj Joshi, District Police Office chief Mukesh Singh, Armed Police Force SP Bikas Ghimire went to the incident site this morning.
