Kathmandu, April 18
Rajendra Mahato-led Sadbhawana Party and Raj Kumar Lekhi-led Nagarik Samajbadi Party announced the merger in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The two leaders signed a 10-point agreement amid a ceremony and announced to expand their party to achieve the national level status.
Speaking at the function, Mahato said his party now had been a national party. He also accused the big parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre of practising ethnic politics as they were led by leader from a single ethnic group.
In the agreement, the leaders said the new party would struggle to establish a Tharuhat state, pile pressure on the government to amend the constitution with revision on provincial boundaries.
