Madhesh Chief Minister to expand cabinet today, seek vote of confidence on Poush 4

Janakpurdham, December 15

Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav is preparing to expand the provincial cabinet today.

He is set to appoint one minister each from the seven-party coalition, excluding the Janamat Party, by allocating ministerial portfolios. According to a leader who attended the coalition meeting held today, the seven-party alliance decided to appoint one minister from each party with designated portfolios immediately.

The leader said the meeting also decided that Chief Minister Yadav will seek a vote of confidence on Poush 4.

Krishna Prasad Yadav, the parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress, was appointed Chief Minister on Mangsir 19 with the support of six parties. He took the oath of office and secrecy from the Province Chief on Mangsir 21 and had appointed three ministers from three parties.

From the Janamat Party, parliamentary party leader Mahesh Prasad Yadav was appointed Finance Minister. Jangilal Rai Yadav from the Nepali Congress and Kanish Patel from the CPN (Unified Socialist) were appointed as ministers without portfolio.

Due to disagreements over power-sharing within the seven-party coalition, two ministers have so far remained without portfolio. Chief Minister Yadav is now preparing to expand the cabinet today by assigning portfolios to the two ministers without portfolios and appointing additional ministers to ensure representation from other coalition parties.
