Biratnagar, January 9

CPN-UML Chair KP Oli said on Monday that there should be no reprieve for Lok Man Singh Karki just because the Supreme Court has relieved him of his position as Chief Commissioner of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

Oli, speaking to journalists at Biratnagar, said there’s a need to look into political and legal aspects of Karki’s controversial acts.

He said: The Supreme Court has pointed that Karki’s appointment as CIAA chief was wrong. In this context, there’s a need to look into political and legal aspects of wrong steps that he took as CIAA chief.

In another context, chief of the main opposition said the political deadlock persisting in the country will end in a few days. He said: Let’s wait for two-four days. The deadlock will end soon in a way that’s visible to all.

It will take a few days to end the relevant parliamentary process meant to end the persisting deadlock, he said.

At the same time, Oli said local level elections should be conducted, come hell or high water.

He said they will not let the government push the Constitution Amendment Bill, tabled in the Parliament on Sunday, through the parliamentary process.
