Kathmandu, December 23

Kathmandu district administration office has remanded two youths involved in Thursday’s attack on Lok Man Singh Karki, suspended chief commission of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, to seven days’ custody.

Metropolitan Police Circle Kathmandu is preparing to file a case against the two youths as per Public Offences Act. Police had presented the two — Prakash Shahi and Chandra Bahadur Budha, central members of the Biplav-led CPN-Maoist’s student wing, ANNISU-R — before Kathmandu DAO seeking its permission to extend their custody for further investigation.

Pradhyumna Karki, acting chief of MPC Kathmandu, said district administration has given them permission to keep the two youths in custody for seven days.

If the charge of public offence is proven, the youths may face a year-long prison term. The suspended CIAA chief has, however, asked law enforcement to release the two youths, describing them as innocent servants of forces trying to tarnish his image.
