Local elections Phase II: Maoists, Forum partner up in Biratnagar

Biratnagar, June 18

The CPN-Maoist Centre and the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have formed an alliance for local level elections in various local units of Morang district including Biratnagar Metropolitan City.

According to the agreement, the mayoral candidate of FSF-N in Biratnagar, Umesh Yadav, will get the Maoist support whereas the two parties will vote for the deputy mayoral candidate of the CPN-MC, Namita Neupane.

After the understanding, the Maoist party has decided to withdraw its decision to field Bhogendra Yadav for the mayoral position.

The party’s district chair Gopi Acchami informs that the alliance was formed following an understanding between central chiefs of both parties, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Upendra Yadav.

Just yesterday, the CPN-UML and the Nepal Democratic Forum led by Bijay Kumar Gachhadar had also announced partnership for the polls in only metropolis of Province 1.

The candidates are required to file nominations today for the polls to be held on June 28.
