Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has asked people to ‘forgive and forget’ conflict-era crimes. He further added that if someone has to be punished, it should be he who should be punished as he was head of the parallel government formed by the Maoists during the insurgency.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Bhattarai said that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission should work by keeping in mind the ‘forgive and forget’ principle.
“Every country will have their own views regarding our peace process. But our peace process is different from the rest of the world,” he said.
