Kathmandu, August 28
The camp area of the Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project in Nuwakot has been completely buried under landslide debris, according to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
The ministry said the site is currently in an extremely difficult and hazardous condition, making rescue operations and efforts to establish access to the site challenging.
Despite the risks, rescue and access-building efforts are continuing, the ministry said.
Helicopters have been conducting repeated aerial inspections of the site to assess the situation. Rescue and search operations are being carried out based on information gathered during the inspections.
Necessary equipment for rescue and establishing access to the site has also been transported by helicopter, and work has begun, according to the ministry.
The project said the rescue of people remains its top priority and that efforts will continue until everyone at the site has been safely rescued.
The project has also urged the public not to rely on unverified information or rumours given the sensitivity of the situation, and to follow only official updates.
