Kathmandu, September 23
CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has made a public appearance. He appeared along with party leaders and cadres at his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur. Since resigning from the post of Prime Minister following the Gen Z uprising on September 8 and 9, Oli had not appeared in public.
After Oli came out publicly, leaders and cadres reached his new residence to meet him. Those who visited took photographs with Oli before leaving. Although he appeared in public, Oli did not give any remarks on the occasion.
The uprising, which began on September 8, escalated the next day after gunfire broke out. The protests turned violent with vandalism and arson, leading to heavy human, physical, and economic losses. Only then did he resign.
After the fall of Oli’s government, an interim government was formed under the leadership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. The House of Representatives has already been dissolved. The new government has set the date of elections for March 5.
