KMC starts restoration of Kamal Pokhari

Kathmandu, July 4

Restoration work of Kamal Pokhari in Kathmandu has commenced on Thursday.

Kathmandu’s mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya laid the foundation of the historic pond which was previously under the stewardship of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police.

Speaking at the event, Shakya said that the pond would be restored to its original state and that it would be used to boost tourism as well.

He also added that Kathmandu Metropolitan City had told the construction company to complete the restoration work within a year and said that KMC would help the company in any way or form.

Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa urged the locals to help KMC to make sure that the pond construction was completed on time. He also threated the construction company that they would face strict actions if they didn’t complete the pond in the given time.

KMC has given the construction company a year to restore the pond.
