Kathmandu, February 6

While media reports have claimed that CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli wants to reelect incumbent Bidra Devi Bhandari as the President, the party’s senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal has said a single person should not be repeated at key positions.

Speaking with journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival from an Iran trip today, Khanal also said he was ready to take any responsibility the party would assign.

“I am ready to take whatever responsibility the party assigns after assessing me,” he said, maintaining he, however, would not beg for any position.

Earlier, some reports had claimed he was also interested to run for the presidency. Just few weeks back, he had said he was ready for the top role.

In another context, Khanal said his party would soon be united with the CPN-Maoist Centre. He added that Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Nepal was just an ordinary visit.
