Kathmandu’s new road sweeping machines collect 18 tonnes of dust on first night of operation

Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s brand new road sweeping machines (broomers) have collected over 18 tonnes of dust from various parts of the city, officials said.

According to authorities, the city’s five broomers swept 13 areas on Wednesday night. The machines were deployed in areas such as Sundhara, Tundikehl, Ratna Park, Kantipath, Jamal, Exhibition Road, Putalisadak, Maitighar, Tripureshowr, Teku, Kalimati, Soalteemode.

City officials said that most of the dust came from Ratnapark, Sundhara, Jamal and Tripureshwor area. The dust was then dumped at the city’s waste transfer station in Teku.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City recently imported the broomers from Italy.
