Kathmandu metropolitan city has started monitoring drinking water jars being supplied in the city. In order to make sure people are drinking clean water, the city has started monitoring drinking water jars coming into the city from other local levels.

The city has upped its monitoring after finding poor-quality drinking water jars coming into the city. The monitoring is being done at the entry points of the valley.

According to Inspection Officer Dr Awadhesh Jha, there are doubts about the quality of water being sold in the metropolis. On Sunday, the metropolis conducted inspections of vehicles transporting water jars to in Ward 32.

“The vehicles bringing these jars did not have jars from the same company. Only half were labelled which is against the policy. They did not have bills or invoices,” said Jha.

The metropolis, earlier, had also monitored drinking water jars in Chabahil area.

“We want to ensure the people who pay for drinking water are getting good quality water,” said Jha.
