Kathmandu, June 4
Though the nationwide lockdown imposed to control the coronavirus outbreak in the country continues, the Kathmandu District Administration Office has agreed to not bar shopkeepers from opening their shops and doing businesses.
During a meeting with representatives of an organisation of retailers in Kathmandu, National Entrepreneurs Federation of Nepal, Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal agreed not to make any obstruction, according to Naresh Katuwal, the president of the organisation.
Earlier this morning, dozens of shopkeepers in major business hubs of the city had opened their shops as urged by the federation.
Meanwhile, chief district officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur decided to report to their higher authorities that the local traders have begun to defy the lockdown restrictions. The three CDOs had held a meeting this morning after the traders opened their shops.
