Kathmandu, July 17
The Karnali Province is celebrating Saune Sankranti and the Deuda festival today. These traditional festivals are observed annually on the first day of the Nepali month of Shrawan.
Marking the occasion, the Karnali provincial government has declared a public holiday. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law issued a notice granting the holiday, in accordance with a Cabinet decision made on Chaitra 17, 2081 BS.
Karnali has observed this public holiday on Shrawan 1 in previous years as well. In the upper Karnali region, both Saune Sankranti and Deuda are celebrated with particular significance.
