Kathmandu, September 29
The Kanti Lokpath, which had been completely closed for several days due to landslides triggered by continuous rainfall, has reopened for one-way traffic from Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall from September 24 to 27 damaged several sections of the road, disrupting transportation services.
The rainfall in the second week of September triggered major landslides at various locations along the Kanti Lokpath. The road blockage directly affected passengers and vehicles travelling along the short route connecting Kathmandu and Hetauda.
Following the disruption, the Road Division Office mobilised technical teams and equipment to clear the landslides. After prolonged efforts, the landslide debris was removed and the road was made passable. One-way traffic has now been allowed on the affected section.
However, authorities have urged travellers to exercise extreme caution as several sections of the road remain risky due to continued rainfall. Further maintenance work is underway to restore two-way traffic at full capacity.
