Journal on youth engagement and volunteering launched virtually

Kathmandu, May 24

The annual journal of Youth Advocacy Nepal (YAN), a youth rights NGO, has been launched amidst a virtual seminar in the capital on Saturday.

The organisation has been publishing a journal annually on youth-related themes since 2017. The theme of this year’s volume is youth engagement and volunteerism. It was published in association with VSO Nepal.

The volume consists of one dozen articles of 18 researchers about volunteerism in various sectors, including agriculture, education, culture, tourism, disaster risk reduction, and politics.

Unveiling the journal, professor Abhi Subedi encouraged Nepali youth to be involved in volunteering activities rather than just racing for money. Bidya Nath Koirala and Uddhav Pyakurel commented on the journal.

YAN chair Naren Khatiwada and Shikha Shrestha of VSO Nepal shed light on how the volume came into the final shape and acknowledged the sincere efforts of its editors, contributors, and support staff. Tara Lal Shrestha, Lekhanath Pandey, Shiva Tiwari, and Prabin Shrestha were editors of the journal, who had also shared their experiences during the function.

The digital version of the new volume will be freely available soon on YAN’s website, www.yan.org.np. The print version will be distributed once the coronavirus lockdown is eased.
