Kathmandu, October 23

The ruling Nepali Congress has still been unable to make a decision on the possible fate of suspended CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki.

The Central Working Committee meeting of the party is taking place on Monday, whereas the motion has already entered the parliamentary process. NC leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said the ball is in the Speaker’s court.

Congress lawamkers are calling for a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Party. They are demanding that party leadership decide to let them speak in support of the motion by convening a PP meeting.

Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada said: It’s been quite sometime since I sought time to speak in the Parliament. At today’s meeting, I will speak in favour of the impeachment motion.

Khatiwada said the Congress can neither support Lokman nor it will. He claimed that even party President Sher Bahadur Deuba is against shielding Lokman.

Some influential Nepali Congress leaders are against the impeachment motion

According to a source, the Congress wants the Parliament to push the process forward through its meetings. However, some influential NC leaders are against the motion.
