Influencing the impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki is impossible as it has already taken its due course, Speaker Onsari Gharti said on Sunday.
Speaking to the media after the Parliament set time (Tuesday) for discussions on the motion, Speaker Gharti said the Nepali Congress has sought time (to come up with its stance on the motion).
Nepali Congress sought more time to decide the matter pointing it had its meeting scheduled in a few days, Speaker Gharti said. She said obliging the Congress was not possible as governing Regulations did not allow the same.
That’s why, NC is holding a meeting late on Monday, Speaker said.
She reiterated that playing foul is impossible as the parliamentary process has already moved ahead. It will be a different case altogether if the proposer of the motion withdraws the proposal, she said.
After discussions in the House, Impeachment Recommendation Committee will get a week’s time, Speaker said, adding that the Parliament will give its verdict on the motion within a month.
