Immediately after General Chhetri’s India trip, top Pakistani military official in Nepal

Pakistan Armed Forces’ highest ranking official, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Zubair Mahmood Hayat, is has arrived in Nepal on a five-day visit to Nepal on Monday.

Hayat is visiting the country upon an invitation from Nepal Army Chief, General Rajendra Chhetri, according to the national military organisation.

The visit immediately follows General Chhetri’s official visit to India, Pakistan’s arch rival.

It has been learned that the Pakistani official will visit Pokhara along with his wife. The couple will also visit multiple cultural heritage sites of Nepal.

He will also hold meetings with President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Acting Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokharel and Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri.

Major General Gaurab Tandul welcomed the guest at the Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday.

The Nepal Army claims the visit will strengthen the military ties between two countries.

Ending his visit, General Hayat will return home on Friday.
