Houses, shops reduced to ashes in Taplejung fire

As many as seven houses and five mobile shops have been destroyed in a fire in Phungling Bajaar, the district headquarters of the Taplejung district in eastern Nepal, on Friday night.

According to the District Police Office, the fire started from Bhattarai Hotel and Lodge at around 10 pm.

The fire was jointly brought under control only at around 5:30 am on Saturday by a fire brigade, security personnel, and locals.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Details of the damage are also yet to be assessed.
