Kathmandu, December 17

The Public Accounts Committee in the House of Representatives has summoned Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal to its meeting scheduled for Friday.

The panel is currently investigating into reports of irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment from China for the country’s Covid-19 response in March this year.

The committee had decided to summon the minister around four months ago, but he was not available. Now, the meeting date has been fixed in consultation with Dhakal himself, according to him.

After reports of irregularities, the government was forced to cancel the deal made for the import of the goods via a private company named Omni Business Group.
