Kathmandu, May 2

A committee in the Federal Parliament has directed the government to make sure that two under construction airports in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi and Pokhara of Kaski have elements of Nepali identity in them.

The Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee of the National Assembly made the directive after a study.

The Committee has claimed that proposed designs of the project did not reflect Nepaliness. The committee, hence, has directed to insert items of the native identity wherever possible now onwards.

Earlier, the Committee’s chair Tara Devi Bhatta and members Khim Kumar BK, Bimala Rai Paudyal and Sarita Prasain had visited the construction sites. They had submitted their study report to the Committee meeting today.

Meanwhile, the study team also proposed various suggestions to ensure timely completion of the projects.
