Honor has launched the GT version of the X50 series, the Honor X50 GT. The X50 series includes the Honor X50, Honor X50 Pro and the Honor X50 GT. The GT model differs slightly from the Honor X50 Pro, which was launched at the end of 2023. The GT variant features a distinct design with racing stripes, additional memory options, and an IP rating. Apart from these changes, the specifications remain identical to the X50 Pro.

The GT series from Honor is popular for its design and the performance it provides in the price range. The smartphone is the successor of last year’s Honor X40 GT. There are major changes from last year including dimensions, display, chipset, memory options, camera, sensors, battery and charging.

Design and Display

The design of the Honor X50 GT is similar to the Honor X50 Pro with a racing stripe running down from the top to the bottom. The camera module is in the centre with a huge circumference. Even though the camera module is big, the smartphone only houses two cameras and a flashlight. The camera module is surrounded by a golden coloured metal finish ring which adds to the aesthetic side of the smartphone. The back curves to the frame which has a shiny metal finish.

On the front, it has a curved screen with a centred-hole punch cutout which houses the selfie camera. The bezels are very thin on the sides as the curved screen blends into the frame.

The Honor X50 GT features a 6.78-inch screen with an AMOLED panel. It has a resolution of 1,200 × 2,652 pixels and a wide range of 1.07 billion colours. The 19.9:9 aspect ratio provides an elongated look to the screen and supports multi-touch, recognizing up to 10 points of touch for smooth interactions. It has a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth operations. It also has IP53 dust and splash resistance for further protection.

Performance and Storage

The Honor X50 GT is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset built on a 4nm architecture. Its octa-core CPU is comprised of a high-performance Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores. The Adreno 730 GPU enhances the graphics for a smooth performance. It runs on MagicOS 7.2, based on Android 13.

The Honor X50 GT has a full-frame Ares engine with high-load full-frame capability and support for large-scale open-world mobile games. It has an average frame rate of 58.73 FPS and a low jitter rate of 3.47 per cent. Even under extreme conditions, such as a 35-degree high temperature with additional front desk load, the Honor X50 GT maintains an average frame rate of 58.97 FPS with a jitter rate of 2.74 per cent. The GPU Turbo X full-frame scheduling works efficiently for managing power consumption.

The Honor X50 GT prioritises cooling efficiency with a 5,100 mm2 giant VC, second-generation ultra-high-performance graphite, and advanced thermal conductivity. It is enhanced by 50 per cent to ensure that the smartphone remains cool during prolonged usage.

It has a cross-water storage capsule, ultra-long and wide arterial cold pump, high-density micro-channel capillary, and aerodynamic bionic fins which enhance heat dissipation. It also features the second-generation AI intelligent shell temperature/ambient temperature model, providing a smarter and more efficient cooling solution.

As for RAM options, the Honor X50 GT has two RAM options of 12GB and 16GB. The 12GB RAM option is paired with a single 256GB storage option whereas the 16GB RAM option is paired with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options.

Camera

The major cost-cutting that has been done is the camera department. The Honor X50 GT has a dual rear camera setup which features a 108MP main camera with an f/1.75 aperture which is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture for added depth and focus on photos. The rear camera supports various shooting modes, including panorama, document scanning, high-pixel mode, large aperture, night scene mode, portrait mode with skin beautification, HDR, filters, watermarks, smile capture, voice-activated photography, timed photography, continuous shooting, slow motion, microfilm and time-lapse photography.

The rear camera supports up to 8x digital zoom along with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). It can record 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30fps.

On the front, the Honor X50 GT has an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture, providing decent-quality selfies. The front camera supports shooting modes such as portrait mode, watermark, filter, smile capture, and time-lapse photography. The front camera can record 1080 videos at 30fps.

Battery and Others

The Honor X50 GT is powered by a massive 5,800 mAh (typical) battery which is needed when the smartphone has to perform power-consuming tasks such as gaming. It has 35W wired charging support and also supports 7.5W reverse wired charging.

In terms of connectivity, the Honor X50 GT is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, offering dual-band support for internet connectivity and Bluetooth 5.2 for device connection. It supports LTE and 5G networks for high-speed data access and accommodates dual SIM cards for dual network usage. Audio is delivered through a loudspeaker for clear sound. It features various sensors, including a gravity sensor, an in-display fingerprint sensor, an ambient light sensor, a compass, a gyro, and a proximity light sensor.

It is available in two colour options; Silver and Black.

The anticipated price of the Honor X50 GT in Nepal is Rs 52,000 for the 12GB/256GB variant, Rs 55,000 for the 16GB/256GB variant, Rs 58,000 for the 16GB/512GB variant and Rs 62,000 for the 16GB/1TB variant.
