The thinnest foldable smartphone currently, the Honor Magic V2 is launching soon in Nepal. The foldable smartphone is the thinnest smartphone at 9.9mm for the PU version when folded. The foldable smartphone overtook the position overtaking the Huawei Mate X3 which stood at 11.1mm thick when folded.

The foldable smartphone market in Nepal is dominated by Samsung’s Z Fold. The Z Fold3, Z Fold4 and Z Fold5 are the current offerings in the foldable smartphone market. The Magic V2 can be a tough competitor to the Z Fold’s.

The Magic V2 is the successor of the Honor Magic V. The Magic V2 has a lot of changes from its predecessor including design, display, chipset, camera, battery capacity and connectivity options. The foldable smartphone has received quite some attention and reviews on social media for its thin foldable structure.

Design and Display

The Honor Magic V2 being the thinnest foldable smartphone has a good design with a slim design with 9.9mm thickness when folded in the PU version and 10.1mm in the glass version. The Glass has a matte finish whereas the PU is the leather version in a black colour option. The back of the foldable smartphone has a triple camera setup in a rectangular-shaped camera module with a shiny metal surrounding.

The Honor Magic V2 features the HONOR Super-light Titanium Hinge certified by SGS for reliability and offers a super-light and dependable design. With a 150% increase in shaft cover strength, it ensures smooth folding and unfolding, resulting in an almost flat screen and multi-angle hovering. The suspended water-drop support adds strength and flexibility, seamlessly folding and unfolding without creases.

The display part of the Honor Magic V2 features a large foldable display with an inner screen measuring 7.92 inches and an external screen at 6.43 inches. With 1.07 billion colours, it offers vibrant visuals and supports gestures for easy navigation. Both screens are smooth, with a fast refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The inner screen provides sharp images at 2344 x 2156 pixels, while the external screen offers clear visuals at 2376 x 1060 pixels.

Performance and Storage

The Honor Magic V2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset built on a 4nm architecture. Its Octa-Core CPU includes high-performance Cortex-X3 cores clocked at 3.19GHz, Cortex-A715 cores at 2.8GHz, Cortex-A710 cores at 2.8GHz, and power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0GHz. The graphics are handled by the Adreno 740 GPU for smooth graphics performance. It runs on Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 operating system.

The Honor Magic V2 is available in one memory option which includes a 16GB RAM which is paired with a 512GB storage option.

Camera

The Honor Magic V2 has a powerful triple rear camera setup and features a 50MP wide camera with f/1.9 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for sharp and steady shots. Additionally, it includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.0 aperture for a wide angle shot and a 20MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture and OIS for clear and detailed zoomed shots, supporting up to 40x digital zoom. It has support for 4K video recording at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/60fps for high-quality videos. Moreover, the rear camera system is equipped with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and OIS for smooth and stable footage.

The Honor Magic V2 features a 16MP wide camera and f/2.2 aperture giving an image resolution of 4608 × 3456 pixels and supports 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps. The 16MP sensor is available in both the inner screen and the outer screen.

Battery and Others

The Honor Magic V2 comes equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, ensuring long-lasting usage. It supports rapid charging with 66W wired charging capability for quick power-ups and also features 5W reverse wired charging, allowing users to charge other devices on the go.

For connectivity, the Honor Magic V2 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for reliable internet access. It also features Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless wireless connections and LTE and 5G network compatibility for high-speed data connectivity. The Honor Magic V2 offers dual SIM support for added convenience. It features stereo speakers for immersive audio experiences.
