Kathmandu, December 5
Renowned historian Purushottam Shumsher Rana passed away at the age of 99. He died this afternoon while undergoing treatment at Medicity Hospital in Kathmandu.
Born on March 28, 1926, in Charburja Durbar (now Bahadur Bhawan, home to the Election Commission), Rana was a notable historian and author.
He authored books Ranakalin Pramukha Aitihasik Durbarharu and Shree Tin Haruko Tathya Britanta. Rana was the grandson of Rudra Shumsher and the son of Ishwar Shumsher.
His contributions to preserving and documenting Nepal’s history remain invaluable.
