Kathmandu, January 7
The Health AI for All Conference 2025 kicked off on Tuesday, organized by the Health AI for All Network (HAINet), a global initiative aimed at advancing health artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of humanity, especially in resource-limited settings. The conference, taking place over two days, is co-organized by Ministry of Health and Population and Nepal Applied Mathematics and Infomatrix (NAMI).
Dr. Kiranraj Pandey, a founding member of HAINet’s board of directors, highlighted the network’s mission to ensure that the benefits of AI in the healthcare sector, reach populations in low-resource countries.
“HAINet was launched in late 2024 to address the global health disparities by using AI to enhance healthcare delivery,” Pandey said. “The conference will explore how AI can bring significant improvements in healthcare systems, boost human health, and ensure universal access to quality care.”
One of the key themes of the conference is empowering developing countries, such as Nepal, to not only identify their healthcare challenges but also take ownership of developing health AI solutions. Dr. Bishesh Khanal, another founding member of HAINet, emphasized the network’s role in transforming developing countries from mere consumers of health AI to active producers of this transformative technology.
He further added, “The conference will showcase groundbreaking research on health AI from Nepal, reflecting the country’s growing role in this innovative field.”
The conference will feature three key sessions. The first session will discuss how health AI can be developed as a global public asset. The second session will focus on the current state of health AI and its potential impact on healthcare in Nepal and similar nations. The third session will open the floor for an inclusive discussion on how to ensure that no one is excluded from the benefits of health AI, making it accessible to all populations.
Experts and speakers from diverse regions—including Asia, Africa, North and South America—are participating in the conference, which is attracting hundreds of attendees both in person and virtually.
