A bridge over the Triyuga river is destroyed by a flood in eastern Nepal in the 2021 monsoon.

Kathmandu, July 6

The government has formed a task force to study the loss incurred and damage made in bridges along with major road networks in the country due to floods in the monsoon this year.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport formed the seven-member task force headed by Deepak Shrestha, the chief of the Bridge Division, Department of Roads.

The task force is tasked with presenting its recommendations and study report by July 22.

The task force has been asked to assess the damage caused by floods and landslides triggered by incessant rains in bridges under construction and those already completed. It has been urged to present a report on the ways to minimise the damage to structures and on the precautionary measures to be taken in the coming days, according to the ministry.
