Govt to begin reconstruction drive for Bara Parsa storm hit this weekend

The government has informed that it will begin the reconstruction of houses for those affected by the March 31 storm in Bara and Parsa districts of southern Nepal from this Saturday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel informs that the government will mobilise 12 teams, one for each place, for the reconstruction works simultaneously.

The Cabinet has already decided to mobilise the Nepal Army personnel for the drive. In addition, around 750 engineers will be sent to the districts.

Speaking with journalists in Pheta, one of the most affected villages, in Bara district on Monday, the Minister assured that there would not be any policy obstacle in the process. Likewise, the reconstruction support would be fair, and no political pressure would work, according to him.

Accompanying him was Chief of the Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa, who said the army would also construct a kitchen and a toilet for each family.
