Kathmandu, February 27
The government on Thursday announced an award in memory of the then minister for culture, tourism and civil aviation, Rabindra Adhikari.
Minister Yogesh Bhattarai announced the establishment of Rabindra Memorial Tourism Award during a function organised to mark the first death anniversary of his predecessor, Adhikari. Adhikari among seven persons was dead in a helicopter crash in Taplejung district on February 27 last year.
Speaking at the function, minister Bhattarai said the government would give the award to one or more persons or institutions every year. The ministry would soon finalise a working procedure to regulate the award, according to him.
Because the working procedure had not been finalised, the government would not reveal the prize amount of the award this time, but the award would be handed over on his death anniversary from the next year, Bhattarai informed.
