Government wakes up from deep slumber, tells Health Ministry to submit a proposal for assisting Kalikot’s wasted children

The Office of the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Health to submit a proposal aimed at helping people suffering from severe malnutrition in Kalikot district.

The government woke up from deep slumber after reports that said 333 children in Kalikot were suffering from acute malnutrition.

It directed Health Secretary to prepare and submit a proposal, suggesting steps that can alleviate the plight of these children.

Three months after the launch of Severe Malnutrition Management Programme, Kalikot district public health office has found that 333 children aged between six months and five years are suffering from severe malnutrition in the district.

DPHO said these children are receiving treatment at different health facilities. Of these children, two had died some days ago.
