Government says 479 bodies recovered following Rasuwa flood

Kathmandu, August 28

The bodies of 479 people who went missing following the Rasuwa flood have been recovered from eight districts.

According to government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel, 12 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 37 in Nuwakot, 33 in Dhading and 44 in Gorkha.

Similarly, 110 bodies were recovered in East Nawalparasi, 27 in West Nawalparasi, 28 in Tanahun and 188 in Chitwan.

The figures are based on data collected as of noon on Friday.

The bodies are currently being managed in the districts where they were recovered. Identification of the bodies will also begin in Chitwan on Friday.

Pokharel said the search for those still missing is continuing.

The floods that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers in Rasuwa on Wednesday caused extensive loss of life and property.
