Kathmandu, November 20

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said on Sunday his government has no plan to recognise Hindi as a national language.

He said certain quarters are spreading rumours that the government is trying to make Hindi a national language in a bid to derail the Constitution amendment process.

He said this while addressing a programme in Kathmandu on Saturday. Nidhi reiterated that implementing the Constitution will be impossible without conduct local, provincial and federal elections.

The legality of the new Constitution will be in question if the government fails to conduct the three elections within January 20, 2018, Nidhi pointed, adding that the government, therefore, is trying to amend the Charter and make it acceptable to all concerned.
