Kathmandu, August 9

The Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal (GoDAN) has launched a strike in support of Dr Govinda KC, who has been fasting unto death for last 17 days putting for various demands for what he says reforms in Nepal’s medical education sector.

The government doctors associated with GoDAN have been working with a black armband across the country today protesting the government’s apathy to Dr KC’s demands. GoDAN has accused the government of not taking any initiative to address Dr KC’s demands and save his life.

Meanwhile, the organisation has warned of launching sterner protests and boycotting all services except attending to emergency patients if Dr KC’s demands are not met.

Meanwhile, the fasting doctor’s health is deteriorating.
