Kathmandu, February 2
Medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC, who staged 19 rounds of indefinite hunger strike in the past years demanding various reforms in the country’s medical education system, says he will launch another round of strike on February 24.
However, Dr KC has raised political demands this time.
The veteran orthopaedic surgeon says he will launch another fast-unto-death on February 24 if his two demands–the revocation of the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives which he says is unconstitutional, and the cancellation of the nominations unconstitutionally made for various constitutional bodies–are not met.
In a statement, he says the hunger strike will be the ultimate weapon of the citizens’ defiance of the move that could keep Nepalis in several generations in dark.
