100 kg gold smuggling case: CIB to take over the case from DRI

100 kg Gold smuggling case
Preliminary investigations into gold smuggling in Nepal have uncovered two common methods used by smugglers: first, bringing the gold to Kathmandu and storing it there, and second, distributing it from the city.

Kathmandu, August 6

The Department of Revenue Investigation will hand over the entire investigation file of the 100 kg gold smuggling case to the Nepal Police.

The department has prepared to submit the file of the investigation into revenue leakage to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) after taking the opinion of the Government Attorney’s Office.

Department of Revenue Investigation is responsible for investigating and prosecuting revenue leakages. However, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal instructed the CIB to carry out further investigations as it is the specialised body for investigating organised crime.
