Cabinet expansion: Gachhadar to take oath as DPM today

Kathmandu, May 8

Nepal Democratic Forum Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar will take the oath of office and secrecy as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development today.

Two other leaders of his party will also join the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Cabinet as Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Minister for Land Reform and Management, according to a source at the PM’s Secretariat.

The party is yet to finalise the two names, the source says.

Gachhadar will replace Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa and two others will take the positions held by RPP leaders Dilnath Giri and Bikram Pandey earlier.

The RPP had pulled out of government after Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre lawmakers filed an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki last week.
