Kathmandu, November 21

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday transferred chief district officers of four districts that will hold voting under provincial and federal parliamentary elections next Sunday.

Officials at the Ministry said the CDOs were transferred violating the election code of conduct, owing to the pressure from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

In Solukhumbu, Surya Khanal has been appointed to replace Bhupendra Khatri. Deuba-loyal Nepali Congress leader Bal Bahadur KC had put pressure on the government for the transfer, according to a source.

Likewise, Phanindra Dahal, Chomendra Neupane and Jagadish Raj Baral have been made CDOs of Bhojpur, Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts respectively.

Earlier, the Ministry had transferred police chiefs of some districts.

PM Deuba himself is the in-charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs currently.
