Former Minister for Home Affairs Dan Bahadur Shahi died at the age of 76 in Kathmandu on Sunday morning.

According to family sources, Shahi breathed his last at around 7:05 am today.

He had been suffering from respiratory and heart-related diseases. Earlier, he had suffered a kidney failure.

The former Home Minister was undergoing treatment at the Grande Hospital. He died during the course of treatment at the Hospital today.

Shahi had worked in the civil service sector for long. He was also the Chief District Office and Anchaladhish (Chief Administrative Officer of zonal administrative units). He was the Home Minister during former King Gyanendra Shah’s reign.

According to his nephew Netra Bahadur Shahi, his final rights will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghar today itself.
