Kathmandu, August 30
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, has cancelled his scheduled visit to Serbia in the aftermath of the August 26 devastating floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
He was scheduled to leave for Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia, on Sunday, leading a three-member delegation to the High-Level Commemorative Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the cancellation of the Minister’s visit to Serbia. The NAM Commemorative Meeting is taking place in Belgrade on August 31 and September 1.
In the absence of the Minister, a two-member delegation led by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, the Chief of the UN and the Specialised Agencies Division, MoFA, will represent Nepal at the event. Belgrade hosted the first NAM Summit in 1961, and in commemoration of the same summit, it is organising the High-Level Commemorative Meeting.
