Incessant rainfall since Sunday midnight has wreaked havoc in Manthali Bazaar, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, as the floodwater inundated the market area. Roads leading to the area have been obstructed whereas one child has gone missing in the flood.
Ushma Phuyal, a student at Manthali Secondary School, was on her way to Bhatauli-based Rudraksheshwar Secondary School to take an examination. Other six children were also swept away by the flood, but were rescued safe later.
Security personnel and locals are searching for the missing one.
Market areas of Manthali Bus Park and Khandbari among other places have been inundated with floodwater. Locals have complained that the water entered their shops and houses..
Likewise, floods have obstructed the roads. Vehicular movement in the town has come to an standstill.
