The Maidhar–Dudhe road section in Jhapa, which is part of the under-construction East–West Asian Highway, has been blocked. Vehicular movement has been disrupted after floods in the Bhalukhola River swept away the diversion.
Vehicles using this route have been diverted. According to police, vehicles traveling from east to west are being rerouted from Maidhar through the southern Kanakai Canal to Sangam Chowk, while those traveling from west to east are being diverted from Sangam Chowk through the southern Kanakai Canal to Maidhara.
Repair work on the damaged diversion has begun.
Similarly, floods in the Kali River have obstructed the highway section at Mechinagar Municipality–6, and floods in the Sukuna River have blocked the section at Shivasatakshi Municipality–10.
