Flood damages 8 schools in Rasuwa and Nuwakot

Kathmandu, August 27

An unexpected flood in the Bhotekoshi River has damaged eight schools in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. Seven of the affected schools are in Rasuwa.

The greatest damage has been reported at schools in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa. Timure Community School in Timure has sustained extensive damage. Uttargaya School in Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, has also been damaged, with students reportedly fleeing to safety.

Tribhuvan Trishul Secondary School in Bidur Municipality-5, Nuwakot, has suffered extensive physical damage. Mud and silt have entered the school premises, which have also been filled with debris and other materials swept in by the flood.

Three boarding schools and two community schools in Timure, Rasuwa, have also been damaged. The names of the schools have yet to be disclosed. According to preliminary reports, four of the schools were swept away by the flood.
