The Nepali Congress has selected three of its leaders as ministers to represent the party in the Prachanda-led government in the first phase.

Bimalendra Nidhi will the NC team in the Prachanda administration as deputy prime minister for playing a key role in cobbling together a ruling coalition, a source close to Deuba said.

Arjun Narsingh KC and Ramesh Lekhak are other two NC leaders from the Deuba camp, who will be part of a small Prachanda Cabinet.

KC had been striving to lead the NC team in the government, but he relented after a meeting with Deuba on Thursday morning.

It’s unclear, though, as to which ministry KC will lead. Nidhi is likely to lead the Home Ministry.

The source said: We have finalised the candidates, who will represent the party in the government. Still, we are yet to assign portfolios to them.

Interestingly, in the first phase, Shekhar Koirala, touted to be Foreign Minister all along, was not included in the first phase.
