Bhojpur, October 15
Travel between Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts has become easier with the resumption of ferry services at Satighat on the Arun River. The service had remained suspended for five months due to the monsoon, as the absence of a permanent bridge has long posed difficulties for transportation.
The ferry service resumed on Wednesday to facilitate travel during the Dashain and Tihar festivals.
Shadananda Municipality Mayor Surendra Kumar Udas said the service had been resumed at Satighat to allow light vehicles to cross the river, particularly during the festive season.
The lack of a permanent bridge over the Arun River at Satighat has caused transportation difficulties for residents of Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha. With the resumption of the service, people in northern Bhojpur will find it easier to travel and transport daily essentials, Udas said.
The resumption has brought relief to residents of Shadananda Municipality and Salpasilichho Rural Municipality. In the absence of a permanent bridge at Satighat, people have to rely on the ferry to transport vehicles, passengers and daily necessities across the river.
Ferry services have been operating at Satighat since 2019. The service has helped residents of northern Bhojpur maintain connectivity with Sankhuwasabha and transport essential goods.
However, the annual suspension of services during the monsoon continues to cause difficulties for residents, underscoring the need to construct a permanent bridge at Satighat.
