Federal Alliance to actively support no-confidence motion against KP Oli government

Madhesi-morcha

Kathmandu, July 18

The Federal Alliance comprising United Democratic Madheshi Front and Janajati parties has decided to provide what it called ‘active support’ for the passage of the no-confidence motion tabled in the Parliament against the KP Sharma Oli government.

Monday’s meeting of the alliance held at the office of the Federal Socialist Forum in Kathmandu decided to fully support the motion. Talks could not take place between the government and the alliance because of Prime Minister Oli’s arrogance, the alliance said, adding that the no-trust motion gives a good opportunity to unseat PM Oli.

The alliance has not yet decided whether or not to join the new government.

Sharat Singh Bhandari, an alliance leader, said: Our demands are associated with the Constitution and they have nothing to do with the government. Still, the alliance will decide on participation in the new government on the bases of its structure and policies it adopts.

The alliance claimed that no-trust motion against the Oli government is the outcome of its movement.

Our monthlong relay hunger strike drew the attention of national and international communities, Bhandari said, adding: Keeping the movement’s impact in mind, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre tabled a no-trust motion in the House.

Top leaders of the Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party and Sadbhavana Party were not present at the meeting. It decided to clear confusion regarding their demands for the formation of provinces on the basis of identity by holding interactions in 10 different places in the presence of intellectuals and leaders of political parties represented in the House.
