Fast track: Nepal Army completes 25% construction works as half of the allocated time is over

Kathmandu, July 11

As per the government’s initial target, the Kathmandu-Terai fast track shall be open for vehicles after next two years.

The first half of the four years’ time given to the Nepal Army for the project has been over last month. However, the national security force says only nearly 25 per cent works of the project have been completed so far.

Therefore, the Army says it may not be able to complete the project on time.

“Analysing everything,” Army spokesperson Bigyan Dev Pandey says, “isn’t it quite ambitious to fix the deadline now?”

Of late, army officials are trying to convince the government that it will try to finish the project as soon as possible after extending the deadline.

As the government announced in its annual policy and programme for the next year that the project would be over within next four years, it seems the project will get a two-year extension.
